While COVID-19 has disrupted many events in Japan and around the world for 2020, some events rather than just closing down for the year have transitioned to online formats. The typical fan-product sales in Japan have been especially hard hit this year as thousands of fans visit to purchase a variety of limited-time goods. While these are not official goods/products, they have received the limited copyright approval to be sold only at this event. These type of events are almost always in-person only, so an online event for sales is very unique.
Similar to the large “Wonder Festival” which often has a variety of Shaman King, Jumbor, and Ultimo figures for sale, the “Treasure Festa” has moved into two online venues this year. The first one “Treasure Festa Online 1” (TFO1) will be held in Japan on September 20th starting at 12:00pm (noon) through September 21st at 21:00pm. Premium Members would be able to access the online store starting at 11:00am at an additional cost.

How to Purchase
It’s important to note that this event is designed specifically for people living in Japan currently. As such there is no direct international shipping and all webpages are in Japanese.
However if you do use a deputy/3rd-party service, you may be able to purchase items from the event. When creating an account, you will need to provide a Japanese shipping address. You will most likely would already have to have had an account setup with them, which may raise the cost of purchasing (fees, international shipping), but the creators of the figures would get the money directly rather than through resellers on auction sites, which is highly discouraged. Treasure Festa Online has gone through the process for the “one day copyright approval” for all merchandise with the sellers. This means that all products sold directly through this event are under clearance of the copyright holders (in this case Kodansha for Hiroyuki Takei goods).
With all of that in mind, you will need to register for a free account here if you want to purchase. This account will also allow you to view the product pages in more detail. All of the pages in this process will be in Japanese. The first page of the registration contains the terms and conditions for joining the website. The next page contains the following information:
- Username
- Your Name (For mailing)
- Your name (furigana)
- Birthdate (Year / Month / Day)
- Zip code (7 digits, no hyphen)
- Address – Prefecture
- Address Line 1
- Address Line 2
- Phone Number
- E-mail Newsletters (optional checkboxes)
- E-mail address
- Password (8 to 16 characters)
- Password confirmation/re-entry
Once your free membership has been created (step 1), you have completed the first step. This page includes the next steps:
Step 2: Register for the “TFO General Participation”
Unlisted Step: With TFO1, they are upgrading all new accounts to Premium for this month only. Typically these have a monthly cost of 398 yen. By creating an account, you will automatically be upgraded to Premium membership. Note, you may need to cancel this membership as it may begin charging you next month.
Step 3: To purchase on the first day, you will need an admission ticket. This will be half off, so will only cost 500 yen. The second day (September 21st) will be free entry, however some items may have sold out on the first day.
Steps 4-6: You now have entry to the site via the TFO My Page. You can purchase items directly from the store now.
Step 7: Event ends and the venue will be closed.
Step 8: All purchased items are gathered at a centralized distribution warehouse from all sellers. They are then shipped directly to the buyer.
Step 9: For items that are customized or not available at the warehouse, they are shipped directly from the seller.
Step 10: The items arrive at the buyer.
The next Treasure Festa Online, TFO2, is scheduled to run December 20th and 21st, 2020.
