Announced in the January 2019 issue of Shonen Magazine Edge released on December 17th, 2018, Hiroyuki Takei will be taking a planned break from releasing his ongoing Shaman King The Super Star manga. This hiatus will be for 3 issues of the magazine and will resume on April 17th, 2019 due to a medical treatment. Within the January issue the 11th chapter of Shaman King The Super Star was published. The original notice printed in the magazine is shown to the right.
The spin-off manga, Shaman King Red Crimson will continue to be published in Shonen Magazine Edge and is not affected by this temporary hiatus. Other Shaman King related promotional events will continue as planned.
Additionally, in the Winter 2019 issue of the quarterly magazine Corocoro Aniki, released on December 15th, 2018, Hiroyuki Takei’s ongoing Hyper Dash! Yonkuro was absent. This was unannounced prior to it’s release of the magazine, but did still feature an extra advertorial about his recently released Mini 4WD “Dancing Divine Doll.” The manga series is planning on returning in the next issue being published on March 15th, 2019 in Japan.
This is the first major hiatus of one of Hiroyuki Takei’s mangas due to a medical treatment. No direct cause for the ailment was given. Hiroyuki Takei is 46 years old, still a smoker, and has had issues with his eyes in the past. While working on his manga series, he has hired many assistants to create and lessen the burden of drawing. We wish the best for Hiroyuki Takei during his speedy recovery!
