Posted earlier today J-Comi’s Ganmo website, Hiroyuki Takei is looking to hire additional assistants to work on his on-going Shaman King The Super Star manga series. Ganmo is web service where manga artists can post job listings, and artists can also post their resumes. Jobs can be either regular work, temporary, or for intern-like programs.

Back in October 2017, before Kodansha had officially been announced as the license holder for the Shaman King series, Hiroyuki Takei used Twitter to start hiring some assistants for an unknown project. This project was most likely (based on timing) leading up to Shaman King The Super Star and finishing his Nekogahara manga series.

The current job request is for a regular position (not temporary work) and was posted by Hiroyuki Takei’s editor for Shonen Magazine Edge, listed as m-yoshida. Yoshida also posted on Twitter highlighting that they were hiring.

Within the Job posting, the following requirements were listed:

  • Work Location: Tokyo Metropolitan area on the Seibu-Shinjuku Line
  • Work Details: Drawing backgrounds, mechanics, etc. in paper and digital format.  Applying tones and finishing work using CLIP STUDIO EX
  • Entry Conditions: No gender/age requirements
  • Schedule/Salary: Pre-determined
  • Other Notes: The Mangaka is a smoker and there is smoking allowed in the workplace.

The remainder of the job posting lists whom and how to submit your resume. They are expecting to contact applicants within a week. Several of Hiroyuki Takei’s assistants have gone onto work on other manga series or have created their own as shown in this recently translated assistant chart on by Maxy Bee on the website Frienship Effort Victory. Additionally, one of his former assistants has recently published a manga called Monday’s Rival which shows the trials manga assistants go through while creating a manga.
