Announce on July 18th, the popular charity-focused web store Humble Bundle launched a new Humble eBook campaign focused on cats. The service allows customers to pay what they want to receive DRM-free content, such as eBooks. At certain price ranges, there is additional content that can be included. With the Pawsitively Clawsome Cats bundle, Hiroyuki Takei’s Nekogahara: Stray Cat Samurai volumes 1, 2, and 3 are included at the $15 tier. The other mangas included in the bundle are Fuku Fuku: Kitten Tales Vol. 1 – 2, Chi’s Sweet Home Vol. 1 – 3, and Chi’s Sweet Adventures Vol. 1. The charity being supported is the The Humane Society of the United States. The deal ends at the end of the month.
The Nekogahara volumes can be downloaded in DRM-free PDF, EPUB, or CBZ formats. The following is the breakdown on the file sizes per format per volume.
Volume 1: PDF: 301.9 MB | EPUB: 148.5 MB | CBZ: 556.5 MB
Volume 2: PDF: 188.0 MB | EPUB: 135.5 MB | CBZ: 484.7 MB
Volume 3: PDF: 124.9 MB | EPUB: 132.1 MB | CBZ: 211.5 MB
Additionally, in the PDF versions of the books, all of the text is select-able. So if English isn’t your first language and you need to translate some words (since there are many cat-based puns and jokes), it’s really easy to highlight the text if needed.
Last summer, Kodansha Comics had a 50% off sale on Nekogahara: Stray Cat Samurai volume 1 as part of the “Manga for Cat Lovers” sale. Kodansha Comics has participated in the Humble Book Bundles twice this year with it’s “Manga to Anime” (June) and “Attack on Titan Universe” bundles. Previously Kodansha Comics also had Fairy Tail (2017) and a general title bundle as their first bundle participation (2016).
Kodansha Comics will be releasing the final 2 volumes of Nekogahara: Stray Cat Samurai in English for both print and eBook this September and November. The digital eBooks are available worldwide, excluding Japan.
