Releasing today a ‘mook’ called “The 12 Laws of Drawing Manga” (マンガを描くために必要な12の掟) by publisher Genkosha contains a brand new interview with Hiroyuki Takei. A “mook” is a high-quality magazine that’s similar to the quality you’d find in a standard book. These typically also do not have a standard release cycle, and this one was released today (March 31st in Japan) with little notice.
The mook has 12 sections broken up across 3 “chapters” which is told in a manga style. This is then followed by a 5 page interview with Hiroyuki Takei. The magazine is in full color. The magazine advertises the following Hiroyuki Takei mangas:
- Shaman King
- Jumbor
- Butsu Zone
So interestingly enough it doesn’t contain Hyper Dash Yonkuro or Nekogahara. Since the topic of the magazine is about drawing manga, there probably isn’t much news or updates about those series. Also, for the cover page of the interview the copyright says “©Takei / 集英社” which the second part is “Shueisha.”
You can see some previews of the mook from the official page located here.
