It is with great pleasure that I announce the opening of Mankin Card Wiki (or MCW for short)! It’s a wiki dedicated to both the Japanese and American Shaman King Trading Card Games!

Go to Mankin Card Wiki now!

Right now we have hundreds of cards from the Japanese card game with updated translations and high quality scans! Our goal will be to have EVERY card ever made on the website. So check out the Japanese Card List page and start taking some of the cards. Not sure where to start, then try the random button!

Over the next couple of months I’ll be updating the site with alot more content. Plus we may have some longer form article cross-over to here on Patch Cafe as well. So we now have a site that has launched, but there is still alot more content on the way over there.

Here’s a mini-FAQ about this new project!

Q: Why is it called “Mankin Card Wiki?”

A: The official Shaman King TCG website (for Japan) was actually called mankin-card.com. So it’s a name based around that, but instead of a “.com” it’s a “.wiki” to show that it’s the next level for it.

Q: Where did you get the translations from?

A: It’s actually a modified version of the translations from Harold Santos who did the original translations for the Shaman King: Chou Senjiryakketsu 3 GBA videogame. There is also some pieces from JohnnyBoy_3000 who was building a fansite for the Japanese TCG (which also was based on Harold’s translations). So it’s a combination from both, with some minor updates and standardization. Once more of the website is live, then I (and the rest of the community, since it’s a wiki) will be able to clean up the translations!

Q: Why is the site in a “closed wiki?” Can I register for an account to help?

A: Right now, I still have a bunch of content I want to add. I’ve done the work, it’s just getting it up there. So once more of the groundwork has been laid, then I’ll open it for registered users to edit and add to the site (since I don’t have everything). The plans are to keep the Patch-Cafe and the Mankin-Card Wiki accounts to remain separate.

Q: How much content is going to be on the site? There isn’t much there right now…

A: Alot. RIght now my folder for the site… is 12.3GBs of data. With over 20,952 files in 1,448 folders. That’s alot of research (and webscraping for easy access). And just for card images I have right now… I’m at 847. A good portion of those are already on the site. Plus I’ve built this page which will help lay out some of the content I’ll be adding.

Q: Will this impact content being updated on Patch-Cafe?

A: Not at all! Right now there isn’t alot of news coming out of Japan surrounding the Shaman King series and Nekogahara is still just getting started. So this has just been a side-project I’ve been working on lately to fill the slower days until more news comes out. So once there is news coming out from Japan, it will still be posted here in a timely manner!
