Please tell me I’m not the only one groaning at the news post below.
I mean, come on, really? When was the last time a spinoff story centered around the kids of the previous protagonists worked? Not to mention I hate Hana as a character because he personifies all the qualities I fear my children having – bratty, violent, immature, and just all around unpleasant to be around. I don’t like Men either. I KNOW, BLASPHEMY! I may love Ren, but nothing excuses bratty children. There’s a difference between that and pride. Still, I would be so happy if Men kicked his sorry flowery butt.
Then there’s this part I hear floating around of, “Powers that surpass even that of his father!” NO. JUST. NO. Did you train in hell? Do you have the Spirit of Earth? Were you in fight-to-the-death battles that challenged you mentally? NO. There’s no way he can have powers that surpass Yoh’s because unless there’s a huge event we’re missing, he hasn’t been through anything life-shattering. No, having your parents abandon you doesn’t increase your furyoku.
And furthermore, THERE’S NO SHAMAN FIGHT. What the heck is Hana going to be doing? For the love of Tao, Takei. I’m more disappointed than I thought I could possibly be with this news. If I didn’t have to scan this, I’d be trying to cancel my order right now.
In my opinion, this is going to ruin Shaman King. When you have something, you let it go. To turn it into a full-fledged series, as opposed to just a mini-series, is a horrible idea. A new anime, however, would have be wonderful.
TL;DR – This is my reaction to the news about the April project:
