On April 2nd, the Shaman King Flowers anime concluded it’s broadcast on TV in Japan with its 13th episode. Following this conclusion, some of the anime production staff posted on Twitter with some of their thoughts and additional details about the production of the series. The entire series will be available for streaming in English on Netflix starting on April 21st. Below contains a rough English translation of the Twitter threads made at the time.
Series Director: Takeshi Furuta
In addition to the overall Series Director for both the 2021 anime and Flowers, he did the Storyboards for episodes 1, 8, 9, 12, and 13 as well as the Scripts for episodes 4, 8, and 12 for Shaman King Flowers.
Thank you for watching SHAMAN KING FLOWERS! Did you know that the delivery of FLOWERS was completed in June last year, and thanks to all the staff involved, we were able to create each episode carefully in an extremely healthy work environment. Thank you again to all of the staff involved. Now that the show’s over, let’s reminisce.
Initially, we were told that there would be two seasons for this project, including both Flowers and The Super Star. But at the time we didn’t know how the series would end. We discussed, and determined no one would be happy if we did an original ending. So we decided to only move forward with Flowers.
The rest is up to you, Takei-sensei!
As we did with Shaman King, we were able to keep to the schedule we had set from the beginning. By the time the dubbing began, we had 11 of the 13 episodes completed in full color, and the various staff was able to finish the background photography remotely on a pinch. I’m very happy it all came together.
I also tried to not do any of my supervisory work, other than sound work on the weekends or holidays, so I was able to send off my daughter to nursery school every morning and give her a bath in the evenings. In that sense, I think it was a healthy workplace.
There are many other series connected with Shaman King, and the more you read, the whole picture starts to become more clear. Be sure to read Red Crimson and Marcos too.
I personally hope those will be made into an anime someday.
Thank you very much for watching SHAMAN KING FLOWERS.
Note: While the director did mention Shaman King: The Super Star, this is not considered an announcement that it, nor any of the spin-offs (Red Crimson, Marcos) will also receive an anime. Originally when the sequel to the 2021 anime was announced, a name of the new anime series was not given. With his references above were likely to the time in late 2021 when the series was on hiatus and Hiroyuki Takei was working on the epilogue extra called “Day After Maize”. The manga series continued to stay on hiatus, noting Hiroyuki Takei being busy, until mid-2022 when he returned with chapter 27 of The Super Star. It is possible that a new anime series could be in the works, the original plans since 2021 have likely changed, as the series is still on hiatus.
Sound Director: Masafumi Mima
He previously worked on the original Shaman King (2001) anime, as well as Shaman King: Funbari Spirits PS2 game in the same role. He later returned to work as the Sound Director for the Shaman King (2021) series and continued that work in the Shaman King Flowers anime.
Thank you to everyone who watched “It’s Love!”, the final episode of “#ShamanKingFlowers”♫

To all the fans of the work, the Staff, and Cast members, Thank you very much♫
Final Episode Director: Toshihiko Sano
He originally worked on the 2021 Shaman King anime series as the Character Designer. For the Flowers anime, he Directed episodes 1, 7, and 13, and did the Storyboards for episodes 6 and 7. Within his comments, he mentions the Setting Director, Jinya Kimura, who also previously worked on the 2021 anime as Art/Setting Director.
For the Shaman King Flowers final episode, I was in charge of Directing it. Thank you to everyone who watched! #SHAMANKING #FLOWERS
The final episode was more than a battle of spirits, it suddenly turned into a wartime story, so I was in a pinch working on it since I wasn’t familiar with how the military operated. It’s hard to learn from just watching war movies and reading materials…
The Setting Director had made some plastic models which I studied, I listened to some stories from the older illustrators, and I gradually learned how it worked as I went along. Every scene had lots of hard work put into it. Your hard work is very much appreciated. Thank you very much.
Ending Director: Rina Mitsuzumi
They previously worked on the Shaman King (2021) anime series for all of the Opening & Ending animation directors, as well as the director for the Promotional Videos (PVs). She also worked on the Flowers Ending theme as a Director as well.
Thank you for watching the final episode of “#SHAMANKING #FLOWERS”! To the Director and the Staff, thank you very much. I look forward to making a sequel! If you have something for me, please call me again. LOL
I am happy to have been able to work on this series that I fell in love with back in elementary school a long time ago🌸
Editor: Kumiko Sakamoto
They previously worked on the Shaman King (2021) anime series as an Editor.
That was the final episode of “Shaman King FLOWERS”. Thank you very much to the staff and everyone who watched it. I’m very grateful to Director Furuta and Studio Bridge.
Opening/Ending Corrections: Furubayashi
They previously worked on the Shaman King (2021) anime series doing animation corrections.
#SHAMANKING #FLOWERS
I personally liked that the Opening and Endings were included right up to the final episode!✨
It’s been quite a while since I worked on it, so it even feels nostalgic now🤭
I’d be happy if I could work on Shaman King again someday…!!
Thank you very much! ☺️
Character Designer: Mayuko Yamamoto
She provided the character designs for the Shaman King Flowers anime series as well as some of the promotional and key art for the series. She did not previously work on the 2021 anime series.
It’s now over… I want to continue drawing illustrations for this series. I won’t make any more spelling mistakes anymore……. (I messed up this one)
Thank you all for your hard work!
#SHAMANKING #FLOWERS
Just before each episode aired in Japan, Mayuko Yamamoto would post an illustration on Twitter that she drew of one of the characters. Below is the complete collection of all of those images from her personal Twitter account.
