Cast Comments

Similar to the introductions done with the 2021 Shaman King anime, they asked the cast 2 questions each for the announcement. Below is a rough English translation for each of their answers.

Yoko Hikasa (Hana)

Question 1: What are your thoughts about returning to the Shaman King series again?

Being able to live Yoh’s life through “Shaman King” and having everyone watch it has become one of my treasures in life. The Shaman Fight may be over, but the world where we left Yoh and Hana continues on. I’m full of joy to be able to meet them again in this reincarnation.
Yoh and Hana may be related by blood, but they are basically strangers. Different individuals, but now are connected by one. I have to maintain their different souls within myself and I’ve very excited. This feeling of the two hearts helps bring me back into the world of “Shaman King.” “Flowers” is the story of Hana beginning to walk his own path. I can’t wait to help him start that journey. I will stand on my own two feet and give it my all to give a voice to Hana now!

Question 2: What did you notice about Hana and how is your performance different than of Yoh’s?

The good things about Hana… what are good things… When I’m playing as Hana there are so many complexities, such as anger, hate, emptiness that all need to flow out of me, so I want everyone to see those as well as the good things about Hana too.
Looking at him from Yoh’s perspective, he can get easily flustered and can channel some of the cuteness and caring nature from Anna.
So I see both Yoh and Hana as two different people, who just happen to share that blood connection.
I like playing both of them, and my mind and body can react in the moment what would be correct reaction for either of them.

Katsuyuki Konishi (Amidamaru)

Question 1: What are your thoughts about returning to the Shaman King series again?

I’m so happy that not only “Shaman King” but now “Flowers” will be animated! Please watch it, everyone!

Question 2: Instead of partnering with Yoh, you’ll be with Hana in this series. What are your thoughts on this change?

Since Amidamaru has been with Hana since his birth, it’s a different relationship than with Yoh.
Everyone should look forward to seeing those differences in the relationship play out. But I of course noticed again that the relationship is always still strong! Haha.

Sumire Uesaka (Alumi)

Question 1: What do you see as the appeal of this series?

What us this new shaman battle, “The Flower of Maize”, really all about…!? The series unfolds in so many unexpected ways that it will keep you on the edge of your seat when you see it!
Personally, I read “Shaman King” as it was coming out when I was in elementary school, so I’m excited that I can step into this tremendous world…! The trials, feelings, and dreams of Hana and others are all being carried on their shoulders. I think this series is a type of “one festival right after another.”

Question 2: Can you tell us what exciting thing you are looking forward with by playing Alumi Numbirch?

She is an amazing girl with the nickname of “Anna the Third Itako” as well as being Hana Asakura’s fiancé. She is very strong and relentless!
She may seem arrogant, but she backs it up with her skills and ability, while hiding her true intentions and guides the wild Hana. I will do my best to express her unbreakable strong will!

Shun Horie (Yohane)

Question 1: What do you see as the appeal of this series?

I am fascinated by the lively interactions with the characters as they battle and travel around. The names of their techniques are similar to the familiar phrases in “Shaman King” but Takei-sensei’s creative wordplay changes them in unexpected ways, just like sprinkling beans on Setsubun day.

Question 2: Can you tell us what exciting thing you are looking forward with by playing Yohane Asakura?

During the recording of the first episode I was surprised when the Sound Director, Mima-san, told me not to play the role of the villain. While Yohane was given a mission as being a direct descendant of Hao, he still acted on his own accordance with his own sense of justice. I hope that feeling carries with the character as the audience cheers for him, even as an enemy.
I’ll stand in front of the microphone with all of my heart.

Michiko Kaiden (Gakko)

Question 1: What do you see as the appeal of this series?

There is so much charming aspect throughout the series.
The likeable and highly personable character are drawn in “Shaman King Flowers” that you’ll get pulled into their fast-paced and engaging conversations! The appearance of the previous generation and their connections to this generation is also very exciting.

Question 2: Can you tell us what exciting thing you are looking forward with by playing Gakko Ibuki?

The world of “Shaman King” has been created with so much passion and love by many people, including our experienced co-workers and production team.
When I was informed that I was hired for this project, I was so overwhelmed with excitement and nervousness.
But I was fired up too! I will be one of the threads that weave through this world with Gakko and I won’t stop running!

Romi Park (Men)

Question 1: What are your thoughts about returning to the Shaman King series again?

It’s “Shaman King”, but it’s not the same “Shaman King,” it’s a new “Shaman King”, and I’m very happy and excited for it.

Question 2: What did you notice about Men and how is your performance different than of Ren’s?

It’s interesting to see the blend of Ren and Jeanne combining together for this voice. The reason for those two’s attraction towards each other is still hidden in darkness, but I need to help reveal it. The two of them might be more similar than you might think. Haha. I would be happy if you can watch us both as we come out from the darkness. There is beauty from that darkness.

Staff/Cast Reactions

After the announcements had been made public, several of the staff and cast posted online some additional thoughts and reactions to the news.

Tomoka Mitsuzumi commented that she was happy to see her calligraphy being used again in the new trailer for Shaman King Flowers. She previously worked on the 2021 anime series for the calligraphy used with attack names and various on-screen text.

Yuki Hayashi commented that he plans on using the same traditional Japanese instruments again for this series as he did for the 2021 series.

The new character designer, Mayuko Yamamoto, for the series drew her own piece of fanart to show the support for Flowers announcement. She also commented that she was in charge of the design for the first teaser visual keyart as well.

The director of the anime, Takeshi Furuta, has said that he has been powering up since the last series and looks forward to the fans support.

Toru Fukushima (under the brand “Smile Studio”) has worked with Hiroyuki Takei on designing several of the logos for the series. He commented on Twitter that he worked with Hiroyuki Takei to develop this new Flowers logo for the anime, which is actually the 3rd time it’s been modified. The first was the original run in Jump X. Then when it was reprinted by Kodansha some small changes were made to the logo. Now the anime has the 3rd version.
