In the revamped Shaman Fight in Shaman King: Funbari Chronicle it is now split into two different modes; the Preliminaries and the Main Battle. The preliminaries are the same gameplay as the previous Shaman Fight. The Main Battle is a much more in-depth mode where 10 players with similar ranks battle against each other in a limited timeframe to earn rewards. This mode is also broken up by “seasons” where your overall rank can also earn you additional rewards.

Each match can hold up to a maximum of 10 players and lasts 30 minutes. For these battles you can bet the SF coins on your match. At the start of the match you will be given 10 coins. The player who has the most coins at the end of the 30 minutes is the winner. if you run out of coins within that 30 minutes you are no longer allowed to bet more. Additionally you can earn additional coins as rewards during each of the battles.

Depending on the outcome of the battle your “Rating Pts” (Rating Points) can increase or decrease. As you increase your Rating Pts you will climb to higher rank and be matched against players with similar ratings. If you are losing battles your Rating Pts can also decrease. At the end of the Season various rewards will be distributed based on the Rating Pts. At the end of a season, all players will automatically drop one rank.

The home screen for the Shaman Fight Main Battle has several buttons on it you can use to play this mode. On the left side the 3 main buttons with the arrows are the following:

  1. Organize Teams
  2. Upgrade Characters
  3. Enter Tournament Battle (Within the 30 minute time period)

Within the Shaman Fight Main Battle mode the stats and abilities used are different than the rest of the game. The abilities are driven by the use of Action Points (AP) to level-up attacks and stats for the characters. All of the characters have the following stats:

Japanese TitleEnglish TitleUsage
ふんばりチャンスFunbari ChanceSpecial Moves/Abilities
巫力FuryokuEnergy to use attacks
体力HealthAmount of damage that can be taken
攻擊力Attack PowerDamage done to enemies
防御力Defense PowerDamage reduction from enemy attacks
素早さAgilityChance of enemy attacks missing

Each item that can be upgraded with AP falls under one of 3 categoies:

Japanese TitleEnglish TitleUsage
奥義Secret AttackHigh Damage or Special Attacks
わざMovesBasic Attacks
特性StatsIncreases Stats/Abilities

When upgrading, if you meet the required amount of AP and Rank you can upgrade that item. Each item can also be upgraded multiple times. Clicking the large orange button (習得) when the item is selected will upgrade it.

The AP you have is limited per character. You can purchase additional AP per character by spending the purple Awoken shards you have collected elsewhere in the game. Click the circle plus button (+) to spend those Awoken shards if needed.

Characters are grouped into 3 overall types:

TypeGeneral Purpose
AttackerDoes high amounts of damage to enemies
TankHas a high health and defense to hold back enemy attacks
HealerHeals your health and raise stats for your team

Each character can also have up to 6 different character sets. This allows you to have different combinations of battle commands and forms for each of your characters. You can have up to 3 different forms associated with a character and 10 battle commands listed.

Depending on what form you have associated with your character you may be able to get additional bonuses for those attacks. You do not need to have that character in order to use or level up those attacks.

When setting the attacks there can be limitations in place as well. For example, the Secret Move can’t be used in the first move slot and can only be used in turns 5 or later. You select a move for each of the 10 turns and scroll to the left/right in the bottom list to pick each of the moves.

When forming your team you can also attach up to 3 Vision Cards to each shaman. These cards have different effects than the res of the game and also impact the type for your character. These effects will randomly be used during the fights.

The type selection for your shamans based on the Vision cards are as followed:

  • If there is no type (grey) selected for all 3 slots, then it will have no type.
  • If there are 2 or more of the same type (excluding no type), then it will have that type.
  • If there are more than one type and no duplicates, it will use the one in the first slot (if it’s not a no type)
  • If there are two different types and there is a no type in the first slot, it will use the one in the second slot (if it’s not a no type)
  • If there are no types in the first and second slots, then it will use the type in the third slot
