So a little while ago I bought these series of officially licensed Shaman King figures. They were produced in Italy and packaged with food to sell to kids. So the quality is super low, but hey, let’s add them to my collection!
I’ve included a bunch of screenshots below. Click on each image to see the full size.
Let’s first start with Yoh. Very strange model they use. The pick his S.F battle outfit from later in the series, with a really weird arm positioning. His face is all sorts of messed up. At least things are sort of proportional…
Now onto the back of Yoh… He loses all of the detail in his hair… and just gets a brown blob! His arm also looks really weird.
Just to put this all into perspective… here’s an average sized Lego figure next to Yoh. So this gives you a better idea on the scale we are talking…
Amidamaru is decent for what you get. Except that face. A very, very tiny head.
Now here’s in scale with Yoh. It’s nice that they did scale these two so that Amidamaru can stand over Yoh.
Next onto Ren. A growing trend is the face… but his isn’t too bad. It’s not very Ren-like, but at least it looks like a face!
The weapon takes a weird turn, but the rest of the details are added back in! They could have just skipped on some of the finer details, but they didn’t.
Bason looks like Bason normally looks! All the key details are there. His head is also super tiny, but it’s always tiny.
Here’s another comparison shot between Ren and Bason.
And one more comparison shot!
Anna’s looking pretty good. Face is pretty close, and it’s not a very hard character to screw up.
It’s also nice to see the level of detail on here bandanna for the mold.
Horohoro in a action pose! Since his knees are bent, it makes him appear a bit shorter than the others. But his snowboard doubles as his stand, so that’s working for him. I also like they added in the fine details for coloring (like his hair color is just slightly darker).
After 2 good faces… here’s Jun. Things are just a little off with her.
They did make sure to put in the details into her back though. Hairclips are colored, and continued the Dragon pattern.
Zombie-Manta! The shortest of the bunch… but his face makes him look like a Zombie! He’s so much more pale that it makes him kinda scary.
Just to put some head sizes into proportion here… Manta’s head is bigger than most of Jun!
Here’s the paper slip that comes with the figures so you can collect all 8! But take notice of the names… Manta! Len! Horohoro! No dub names here! Would be perfect if it was Ren, but we can take what we can!
And here’s a final shot of everyone standing next to each other!
So all in all, they are kinda scary. There is alot of little details that they got right which is cool. But the key parts… like the face is so off that it makes them kinda weird. These are certainly the weirdest Shaman King figures you can have in your collection!
