On December 3rd, 2021 a new Shaman King tourism campaign was was announced for the Izumo region of Japan. The event is roughly translated to “Great Journey in Izumo, the Land of the Gods.” The title uses “mera” for “great” which is commonly used by the character Ryu. The title is also themed after the journey various characters have to visit Yoh’s hometown in Izumo. The event starts on January 1st, 2022 and concludes on January 31st, 2022 with several different promotions within it.
Previously Kodansha worked with the Izumo Tourism Bureau in the summer of 2021. In addition to having the Shaman King Exhibition held in Izumo there was also various collaborations with hotels/onsens and a stamp rally held.
For this tourism campaign a special website has been created to host all of the details. Portions of the website will be updated in December 2021 with additional information.
Digital Stamp Rally
At various locations in Izumo there will be pamphlets and QR codes that will allow you to download a Digital Stamp Rally App onto your SmartPhone. With this app you can visit 8 different locations to collect all of the stamps. Once you’ve collected all the stamps, and post your result on social media (typically Twitter), then you will be entered into the contest for a Blu-Ray box prize. There will be 5 winners picked at random and they will each receive the first Shaman King Blu-Ray Box set which was hand-signed by Yoko Hikasa, the voice actress of Yoh Asakura.

Train Advertisements
During the tourism campaign, some train cars of the JR West Limited Express train “Yakumo” will have advertisements for this event. There will be a total of 9 types of advertisements included. Additionally when arriving at the JR Izumo City Station you will be greeted by a special recording from Yoh Asakura (voiced by Yoko Hikasa).
