The Shaman King franchise is ramping back up again this week with a couple cornerstone releases.
Starting on Tuesday, there is a bunch of manga releases scheduled for release in Japan. The 2nd volume of Shaman King: & a garden releases in both a print and digital release. This volume doesn’t contain the color pages, but it does have some special illustrations included at the end of the volume. Shaman King: Flowers volumes 3 & 4 return to store shelves with a print edition, now published by Kodansha. Lastly, Shonen Magazine Edge has a new issue out this month which contains a special printing of Shaman King: Faust8 – The Eternal Eliza manga’s first full chapter. The series (including this chapter) will continue to be released nearly weekly on Magazine Pocket, and this was just a one-time special. The series returns from it’s one-week break with the first part of chapter 3 of Faust8 this Saturday as well.
One English release this week is the print edition of Megumi Hayashibara’s The Characters Taught Me Everything: Living Life One Episode at a Time in a print edition from Yen Press. The digital edition was released back in February and this will be the paperback version of that same book. Megumi Hayashibara voices Anna in both the original 2001 and the ongoing 2021 Shaman King anime series. A chapter of the book is dedicated to her experiences with the Anna character, specifically related more towards the 2001 anime as she had not started recording for the 2021 series when the book was being written in Japan. Included in the book is also a special drawing done by Hiroyuki Takei thanking Megumi Hayashibara for her work.
For more manga releases this week, the Italian edition of Shaman King volume 10 will release on Wednesday. This is then followed by the Spanish release of Shaman King volume 7, a 2-in-1 volume, in Argentina on Friday.
Thursday, which has returned to the standard Shaman King (2021) anime day has a special event timed with it. Prior to the TV Tokyo airing of the episode, there will be the TV ad debut for the Shaman King: Funbari Chronicle Japanese mobile game. This ad will be showing cutscenes from the upcoming game and be timed with the opening of the “pre-registration” for the game. The TV ad will also be available for streaming as well. The exact details on what will be included for the “pre-registration” will be announced around that time as well. So be sure to follow @ShamanKingNews on Twitter for updates (with additional information being collected into an article here on Patch Café at a later date).
